The Benefits of Hemp Beauty Products
Did you know that hemp seed oil is one of the best things you can put on your skin?
Since hemp isn’t widely talked about here in the States, many people are unaware just how beneficial this plant is. Especially when it comes to skincare.
Over the past few years, however, more hemp products are popping up on our shelves. And this includes the “health and beauty” department. Even major stores like The Body Shop sell hemp products (they’ve been touting the benefits of hemp for years!)
So, why should we be racing to slather this stuff all over our skin?
Let’s take a look…
The Amazing Benefits of Hemp Seed Oil
Hemp seed oil has a superior ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6 fatty acids compared to other oils.
So, what are these Omega acids good for?
Omega 3 is especially wonderful for smoothing and firming our skin. Basically, it helps improve the skin cell’s structure, and ensure it’s effectively getting rid of waste products. For us, this means that Omega 3 can help us look younger.
If you have dry skin or even conditions like eczema, these Omega acids can dramatically improve the moisture content in your skin and help it look healthy and vibrant. Remember, skin loves moisture!
I love hemp lotions because they make my skin feel like silk. And the smell is very unique and wonderful!
It’s truly amazing to me just how many options we have when it comes to hemp products.
For instance, I use Dr. Bronner’s Lavender hemp soap every day. You can buy it at Target now, which is where I get mine.
You can also buy liquid hemp soap and shower gel. I’ve used the HEMPZ brand in the past, and was very happy with how my skin felt after using it. I simply prefer the bar soaps of Dr. Bronners because they don’t use any plastic and they’re easier to travel with.
Hemp Shampoo
If you have dry hair or a dry scalp, then switching to a hemp shampoo might be a great option for you. And, of course, there are wonderful hemp shampoos out there.
My #1 favorite is The Body Shop’s hemp shampoo. Just like their lotion, it smells wonderful and organic, and it really moisturizes your hair. Want shine? You got it with this shampoo.
There are also other hemp shampoos out there (that I haven’t tried), so I can’t give them the ringing endorsement like I can The Body Shop. But from what I’ve seen online, many people really seem to love the HEMPZ shampoos as well.
Last Word…
Hemp truly is a “wonder plant”. We can use it for ultra-strong fabric, we can eat it (yes, a future post!), we can use the oil to moisturize our skin. And the best part? It’s ultra-sustainable to grow; it naturally resists insects and needs no fertilazation.
Have you ever used any hemp products before? If so, I’d love to hear about your favorite brands!
