I’ve written a few times before about how a creative designer can turn anything, and I do mean anything, into a gorgeous recycled dress.
And, I’ve found some more recycled dresses that I had to feature because they’re simply amazing.
Let’s enter the beautiful, green world of eco fashion designer Gary Harvey. But before I talk about what he’s doing, just look.
Dress #1: Recycled Laundry Bags
Dress #2: Recycled Jeans
Dress #3: Hawaiian Shirts
Dress #4: Recycled Baseball Jackets
So In a Word: Genius
I’m in love. Really. Gary Harvey’s incredibly vibrant dresses not only make a seriously cool statement about the nature of reusing and upcycling (and just how far you can take it) but these pieces are like wearable art. They’re elegant and whimsical but still completely accessible.
Yes, love would be the word for me.
Gary Harvey, who was the Creative Director at Levi Strauss for 10 years, first premiered his collection of 100% recycled dresses at London’s Fashion Week in 2007. I wish I could have been there when these incredible dresses came down the runway; I can only imagine the gasp and awe the room must have felt!
Since then his passion for creating beautiful dresses out of cast-off material has taken over, and he know accepts private commissions for his pieces.
Where does he get his material? Used clothing stores.
