Green Designer Profile: Prairie Underground

For those fashion critics who claim Seattle isn’t holding their own in the fashion/design world, I have a two-word comeback: Prairie Underground.

Prairie Underground is a Seattle-based design firm that makes eco clothing I want, plain and simple.

Before I go into their awesomeness, just take a look. All images are courtesy of Prairie Underground.

Yeah, luscious right? I can picture myself in every single one of these amazing outfits. They’re cozy without being frumpy. These are the kinds of clothes that are cozy enough to wear around the house, and look even more amazing out on the town. Yeah, it’s the perfect balance.

So, aside from their lovely clothing, what’s green and unique about Prairie Underground?

This little company stays local by having their clothing ethically made by local Seattle-based artisans. They regularly use organic cotton, organic cotton/hemp blends, and salvaged materials and cuttings that would have otherwise been thrown away.

Those are business practices I can stand behind!
