The Benefits of Hemp Tote Bags

Here at Earth Divas, we love fair trade hemp. And with good reason! Hemp is super strong, it’s a very sustainable crop, and it’s 100% biodegradable.

But I wanted to go into a little more detail about our hemp tote bags, and why there are so many benefits to using a fair trade hemp tote bag for school, work, or just your primary, “go-to” bag.

1. Hemp is Eco-Friendly

Hemp is one of the most eco friendly crops to grow. Why?

Well, one reason is because hemp grows incredibly fast. It requires little, if any, insecticides and pesticides. And, this is a major reason why most of our bags are made using hemp. It’s one of the few crops that actually replenish the soil with nutrients instead of draining it.

Go hemp!

2. Hemp is Incredibly Strong

Hemp is one of the strongest fabrics in the world. Which means our hemp bags are made to last.

Want proof?

One reader had her treasured Earth Divas hemp bag for years. I even wrote a post about it once she sent it a picture of how it looked…

Yep, our hemp bags stand up to some heavy wear and tear, and they keep on ticking. ┬áThat’s the power of good design and quality hemp fabric.

3. Hemp Looks Great

Take a look at the Earth Divas bag below. Does that look like a hemp bag to you?

Most people would say no. After all, hemp is supposed to look rough and, well, hippy-ish, right?

Not anymore! Hemp has grown up and is now a fabric that can run with the big girls like organic cotton, bamboo and tencel. While hemp will never be as smooth and luxurious as silk or satin, it can at least hold its own among all other eco-friendly fabrics on the market.

Final Word…

As you can see, hemp isn’t the scruffy, dirty-looking fabric it was 20 years ago. Hemp, especially quality fair trade hemp, is smooth, eco-friendly, and sophisticated. So, three cheers for hemp!
